Consortium (Live Courses)
OPM Education began providing training courses in 2007. These initial courses primarily provided didactics on business and practice management. Currently, the live courses, now the Consortium for Residents and Fellows, provide an interactive, multi-media platform allowing young physicians to learn from and interact with individuals from multiple industries about the various aspects of business that will impact the success of their practices.
The Consortium promotes business and financial literacy and allows experts in banking, accounting, technology, and insurance to teach and share best practice methods, as well as their experiences related to the business of medicine. Read below to learn about our upcoming Consortiums.
Ultimately, more knowledgeable physicians leads to increased practice viability overall which means increased access to healthcare for all Americans.
By the end of the Consortium, you will be able to actively:
- Explore practice options
- Define which practice type is right for you
- Analyze an employment contract
- Recognize red flags during negotiations
- Understand and define recommended insurance
- Negotiate liability insurance rates
- Compare salary offers over terms and location
- Decipher reimbursement and financial reports
- Maximize productivity and minimize embezzlement/fraud
- Understand the impact of Medicare reimbursement cuts
- And much more…
